**Life is unpredictable.** Just when we think we have it figured out, something—a personal experience or an election—comes along and challenges our perspective. I’ve been reflecting on this lately, especially regarding my past criticisms of certain **X-Men comics**, particularly those from the **Krakoan Era**.

I wasn’t alone in my opinions. For a time, I unknowingly became part of a broader **smear campaign** against these books and their creators. But with hindsight, I’ve come to realize something important: these comics were about more than just **social justice themes**. They explored the timeless battle of **good versus evil**, a reflection of the moral choices we all face.

### **Understanding the Two Wolves Within Us**

The Krakoan Era finally made sense to me when I saw it as a metaphor for **the internal struggle between right and wrong**. Like the famous parable of the “two wolves,” the one we choose to feed defines who we are. While I didn’t always relate to the specific issues depicted, I now see how these stories mirrored larger questions of **ethics and morality**.

In much the same way that **real-world events, like elections, test our moral compass**, the characters in the Krakoan saga struggled to rise above their flaws. Some succumbed, while others endured and evolved. In the end, their sacrifices weren’t for themselves—they were for the next generation. Much like **Moses glimpsing the Promised Land**, these characters often fought for a dream they wouldn’t personally live to see.

### **The X-Men’s Fight Beyond Politics**

When the **Krakoan Era ended**, the X-Men didn’t stop fighting. But they weren’t fighting for a utopia; they were fighting because it was the **right thing to do**. In this way, the era stands as a quintessential X-Men tale, embodying the spirit of masterless samurai who remain true to their code in an ever-changing world. Their battle wasn’t just political—it was about **transcendence and hope**.

### **Revisiting These Comics With New Eyes**

I’m now revisiting the **Krakoan Era comics** with a renewed perspective, searching for the **hope embedded within their pages**. Life has a funny way of making us rethink what we thought we knew.

If anything, these stories remind me that no matter how bleak things may seem, there’s always a reason to keep fighting—for hope, for change, and for future generations.
